Raiders fall short in Tri-City barn burner
The Prince Albert Raiders saw their mini two-game win streak snapped Saturday night south of the border as the team fell 5-4 to the Tri-City Americans in front of a boisterous crowd at the Toyota Center.
It was the first loss of the season-long seven-game road trip for the Raiders, a trip that is taking them through the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. The loss came on the heels of a 3-2 win in Spokane and a 4-2 win in Lethbridge.
On Saturday, the Raiders fell behind 4-1 after 20 minutes and couldn’t quite complete the comeback, failing to capitalize on a 5-minute powerplay in the third period.
“A couple of mistakes early on for us, a couple turnovers that we would probably want back. But I give our guys a lot of credit, we battled inch by inch,” said Raiders assistant coach Ryan McDonald.
