Gerald Andrew Olsen

It is with sadness and yet rejoicing that we announce our dad Gerald Andrew Olsen, late of Birch Hills, SK entered his eternal home in Heaven on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Dad was born in Birch Hills SK on July 5, 1935. His early years were spent on the farm, and then in the town of Birch Hills. He attended LCBI in Outlook where he met the love of his life, our mom, Maxine Tenold.

Dad and Mom were married in July of 1954, and were blessed with 6 children.

Dad loved every season of life on the farm. Seeding, harvesting, fixing, welding, building, washing machinery, crop checking, trips down south, coffee in the big house, English Mastiff dogs, and his most important job of being the ‘roady’ for our family as we traveled, sang, and shared the gospel over 3 provinces.

(Phil) Hagen, Holly (Gordon) Cochrane, Laureen (Bruce) Markwart; his son Kurt (Delores) Olsen. His grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff), Angela, Jamie, Matt, Amy (Brian), Mark (Jess), Landon, Rachel (Lee), Wade, Jason, Jenny (Shiloh), Casie, & Chelsey (Carson); his great–grandchildren Taylor (Matthew), Jaxen, Codi, Marissa, Chase, Beckett, Lucas, Katy, Tyce, Weston, Brody, Annika, Emily, Otto, & Otis; his brothers-in-law Henry Peters, & Dallas (Cheryl) Tenold.

Gerald was predeceased by his wife Maxine; his son Dale; his sisters & brother-in-laws Joan (Doug) Hopkins, & Ruth (Wendal) Jensen; his sister-in-law/brother-in-law Bernice (Norman) Vall; & his sisters-in-law Lois Katernyk, & Ilene Peters.

His role on earth was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a friend, a brother, an uncle, & a farmer. Dad lived each of these roles with a strong faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We know that Dad heard the words “Well done my good and faithful servant” as he entered Heaven. He did not teach us how to live he showed us how to live.

Dad, you were “BEST BABA OSEN ON EARTH!”

A Funeral Service will be held for Gerald on Saturday, November 11th, 2023, at 1:30 PM at the Christ Alone Lutheran Brethren Church in Birch Hills, SK.
