U18 AA Timberwolves set to host Ron Gunville Memorial Tournament
With the Prince Albert Raiders on their American road swing and the P.A. Mintos heading to Swift Current for a double-header, the Lake Country Timberwolves will be taking to centre ice in ‘Hockey Town North’ this weekend.
The team, sponsored by Lake Country Co-op, is hosting the 3rd annual U18 AA Ron Gunville Memorial Tournament. Gunville passed away in 2018 from cancer at the age of 48. He was key in building the Raiders team that won the 2019 WHL Championship and was also a former player for the organization.
“Ron lived, breathed and gave back to the game of hockey in Prince Albert,” said Timberwolves head coach Derek Simonson. “The Gunville family’s imprint on the city’s hockey landscape is far reaching and this tournament holds an extra special connection to our hockey community in honouring Ron and his family.”
