Do you believe in ghosts?

If so, you’re not alone as roughly half of Canadians think the supernatural is real. That’s according to a survey by PlayOJO which spoke to around 1,400 people from across the country.

It found that 50 per cent believe, while 34 per cent were skeptical and 16 per cent unsure.

Around six of every 10 women and four of every 10 men say ghosts and spirits are real.

Gen-Z were the biggest believers at 53 per cent with baby boomers being the most skeptical at just 47 per cent.

Around 13 per cent claim they’ve seen a ghost or poltergeist while one in five people state they’ve heard noises, seen items move, or felt something they couldn’t see.

The major Canadian city with the most believers is Calgary, while Ottawa has the most deniers.

The survey also asked people what they do to try and prevent paranormal activity from happening.

The most common answer was keeping the lights on 40 per cent claiming they’ve done this. Around 19 per cent said they’ve also used holy water or other religious imagery and symbols, while 18 per cent admitted to burning sage or lavender.
