Russell Shore Casey passed away quietly at the Victoria Hospital, in Prince Albert, SK, on September 29, 2023.
Russell was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Esther Casey (née Shore); his three brothers, Bob Casey (Olive Arnason), Patrick Casey (Jean Wainwright) and Arnold Casey (Joan Russell). He is survived by his ten nieces and nephews and their families.
Born on November 12, 1929, Russell lived nearly all his life in Prince Albert. He drove truck and sold ice cream for Palm Dairies, and worked a short time for MacDonald’s Consolidated in Edmonton. He later started his own drapery business, and promoted himself as “Casey The Blind Man.” Russell was a keen golfer and a regular on the courses in Prince Albert and Waskesiu, and he took up alpine skiing in his fifties. He loved highway travel, especially in the mountains of western Canada, and had a succession of motorhomes. He was ever a chauffeur for his parents who did not drive. He enjoyed the company of extended family from California to Ontario to Emma Lake.
