Manitoba Egg Farmers are committing $75,000 in funding over three years to support agriculture education.

Agriculture in the Classroom-Manitoba (AITC-M) will use the money to expand ag education programs in the province and send more learning resources to educators so K-12 students can understand where their food comes from and who produces it.

AITC-M Executive Director Katharine Cherewyk said the organization’s long-term vision is for Manitoba students have the tools they need to know agriculture, think critically about agriculture, and feel connected to it.

” With the security of multi-year funding from partners like Manitoba Egg Farmers, we can spend more time building capacity, reducing educator waitlists, and ensuring more students will have the opportunity to learn about agriculture in the years ahead,” Cherewyk said.

The multi-year commitment will start during the 2023/24 financial year.

The Alberta government has released a plan to help manage the more than 1,400 wild horses that call the province home.

The government said it developed the feral horse management framework to help encourage the wild horses’ sustainability while addressing the effect they have on the ecosystem.

The plan seeks to reduce the pressures the movement of growing feral horse populations can put on the province’s rangelands, wildlife, and livestock.

Some of the equine management zones in Alberta are facing significant sustainability challenges due to the size of horse populations.

CNH Industrial has been recognized with several Agritechnica Innovation Awards.

The Case IH, New Holland and STEYR brands received five medals at the event presented by the DLG German Agricultural Society.

New Holland Agriculture took home the show’s only gold medal for the new Twin Rotor Combine Harvester Concept, which will have its world premiere at Agritechnica in November 2023.

The brand was also awarded a silver medal for the T7 LNG tractor concept with its ‘better than zero carbon’ environmentally innovative biofuel technology.

Case IH Axial-Flow feed rate radar system received a silver medal. The technology uses radar sensors to scan and assess crop density before it enters the combine harvester rather than the traditional system which takes place during the threshing process.

STEYR, a specialized tractor brand for European farming, won a silver medal for its Hybrid CVT tractor prototype. Its hybrid electric drive supplies additional power, taking the tractor from 180hp to 260hp. The tractor delivers faster acceleration with supercapacitor technology.
