Lila Marie Clarke
1934 – 2023
It is with profound sadness, tempered with gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of a cherished mom, mother-in-law, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Lila Marie Clarke (nee Johnson), Saturday September 23, 2023 at the age of 89.
Mom was born in the Shell Lake area and then the family moved to Spruce Home and Davis. Mom attended PACI before taking up a career as an Operator with Sasktel. She met a handsome farm boy from Holbein and they were married in 1956. After a few years they started a family and gave us girls a really good life. Mom continued to work part- time after we were born but her focus was always to be the best wife and mom she could be and she did that with strength, dignity and humour up to the very end.
Mom loved music, Neil Diamond, Johnny Reid, John Denver and many others. She loved animals, especially dogs, and she enjoyed knitting. Above all she loved her family.
Her memory will be cherished by her family: Karla (Darwin) and their children Justin (Chelsea) and Siobhan, Brytten, Brycen, Braydon and Bronx; Jillian (Andy) and Tristan and Payton; Tyson. Kelley (George) and Lindsay, Tyler and Dorin, Derek (Christine) and Deborah and Serenity. Glenis (Larry), Ben (Agi), Josh (Kate) and their families. Her sisters Lavelle and Laverna, and brother Vern, and sisters-in-law Bette and Iola. She is predeceased by her husband Leonard, her parents Edwin and Cecile Johnson, and her in-laws Cornelius and Kate Clarke. Also, her granddaughter Ashley; and her siblings Helen, Leyland and Roy; and Dad’s siblings Bill, Mary, Connie, Prudence, Hilda, Lillian and Neil.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at Mont St Joseph Home for their amazing care for Mom and the compassion and dignity they showed towards Mom and the family during Mom’s final days. The love you showed her softened this difficult time. Also thank you to Dr. Andre Grobler.
