A former high commissioner of India in Canada said there was no need for the government to go public with an allegation the Indian government was involved in the killing of a Canadian citizen.
Vikas Swarup, who also served with India’s Ministry of External Affairs, was speaking at the Global Business Forum in Banff. He said the situation could have been solved at the diplomatic level.
Since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the accusation over one week ago, both countries have expelled one another’s representatives, and India has also temporarily halted all visa services for Canadian citizens.
