Construction Update

Construction wrapping up in front of P.A.’s EA Rawlinson Centre

Construction is nearly done on a major artery to Prince Albert’s Diefenbaker Bridge.

Crews have been working on a section of 12th Street West, in front of the EA Rawlinson Centre between First Avenue West and Second Avenue West, for over two months after there was a major sinkhole last summer.

It was caused after a storm sewer under the road collapsed due to a water main break after heavy rainfall. To help prevent this from happening again, crews ended up replacing both the water main and storm sewer.

According to the City of Prince Albert, the only things left to do are to apply one more layer of asphalt on one of the lanes and then paint the traffic lines.

They didn’t give an exact timeline for when this should be done. Initial predictions had the project being completed in around six weeks, however, that would have meant finishing in July.

The City also explained they don’t have the exact costs yet as they haven’t received all the invoices.
