Honourees and special guest announced for 2018 Sportsman Dinner

The 11th Annual Prince Albert Kinsmen/Raiders Sportsman Dinner will be held Oct. 26 at the Ches Leach Lounge.

Jesse Byrne, Shantel Kalika, Ian Litzenberger and Kalen Kovitch will all be recognized with awards for the night.

The special guest for the festivities will be Adam Oates, one of the best playmakers in NHL history. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in History in 2017.

Jesse Byrne is the Male Athlete of the Year, is widely referred to as the “greatest bullfighter in the world” and grew up just east of Prince Albert. He’s been keeping bull riders safe at the highest levels, including the PBR Built Ford Tough Series.

Shantel Kalika will be the Female Athlete of the Year. She was the first female to win the 2016 Pro Truck series championship and finished in second place last year. Kalika is also currently in first in the Sportsman division at Wyant Raceway.

The Sportsman of the Year award will be presented to Project Triple Play, with Ian Litzenberger and Kalen Kovitch accepting the honour on the committee’s behalf.

Litzenberger and Kovitch were key contributors for Prince Albert to get the opportunity to hold the 2018 WBSC Junior Men’s Softball Championship. They also helped receive funding, and oversaw all the preparations and facility upgrades leading up to the tournament.
