Sask. Water Security Agency helping farmers hit by drought

Saskatchewan’s Water Security Agency (WSA) has announced plans to help farmers experiencing drought conditions.
The organization will prioritize farmers and ranchers applications for temporary water rights licenses which will allow them to haul water from a WSA reservoir or other provincial water supplies.
The agency reminds the public they don’t need a license when hauling water from a municipal supply like an RM tankload facility. Those who own or occupy land near water like deep or shallow wells, springs, lakes, sloughs, streams, creeks, and rivers and want to use it for watering stock or spraying crops can do so without a permit.
“With the well below normal amounts of moisture in many areas across Saskatchewan, our government is working hard to support our farmers and ranchers,” said Jeremy Cockrill, Saskatchewan’s minister responsible for the WSA.
