New furniture store to open in P.A.

Jun 6, 2017 | 12:00 PM

Dufresne Furniture is set to officially open their first Prince Albert location this week.

The new store opening Thursday will employ anywhere from 10 to 20 people from frontline workers to warehouse staff.

“We think Prince Albert fits very well with who our core customers are and we think the town will really love us,” Larry Millar, director of marketing said.

The 17,000 square foot space will house a variety of home furniture collections, home accessories, appliances and mattresses. What sets Dufresne apart from other furniture stores is the custom furniture options they offer.

“You can come in and get a sofa and pick the fabric and arm style, and whether the cushion is firm or soft, and so much more,” Millar said.

This will be the thirteenth location for the furniture chain. The first opened in Kenora, Ont. in 1986, and has remained a private, family run business since.

The store at 331 Marquis Rd. opens to the public June 8,  but the grand opening takes place the following Saturday with a wide range of specials, giveaways, and a performance from musician Kelsey Fitch.
