RCMP recover stolen trailer, fleeing suspect runs out of gas

A sticky fingered thief is facing a handful of charges after a number of stolen items were recently recovered.

Last Wednesday, police were informed an enclosed trailer had been stolen from a property in the RM of Laird. It was found the following day outside a residence on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation.

When a man at the residence was informed he was under arrest, he fled on foot. He was however located a short time later in a nearby wooded area and arrested without incident.

When officers executed a search warrant at the property, they located and seized multiple items, believed to be stolen, including another trailer, a riding lawnmower and tools.

A 44-year-old man from Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, and one count resisting a peace officer.
