It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Anne Bighead, late of Prince Albert, SK formerly of Sturgeon Lake, SK on July 19^th, 2023, in Saskatoon, SK at the age of 66 years. Shirley was born on September 6th, 1956, to Fredrick David Ahenakew & Sheila Grace Ahenakew in Chilliwack, BC. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband Senator Craig Bighead; her children David (Joanne), Stacey (Warren), & Kelsie (Carlyle), & Ronda; her grandchildren Haley, Jayden (Ashley), Brooke, & Alex; her chapans Carter, Jordyn, Rhys, & C.J; her siblings Janet Dodwell (Lorence), Doug (Paula), & Gerald; her adopted siblings Yvonne Seesequasis, Brenda Ahenakew, & Barry Kingfisher; her special friends Maureen, Ellie, Victoria, Norma, Christine, Vivian, Tanya & Lianne; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews & extended family. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Fredrick David & Sheila Grace Ahenakew; her brothers Philbert, Fred, Greg, & Ron; her maternal grandparents Edward & Annie Ahenakew; her paternal grandparents Edwin & Edith Ahenakew; & her father-in-law and mother-in-law Howard & Marjorie Bighead. A Visitation Service will be held on Saturday, July 22^nd, 2023, from 1-5 PM at MacKenzie Chapel in Prince Albert, SK. A Wake Service will be held on Sunday, July 23^rd, 2023, from 1-10 PM at Parkland Hall in Prince Albert, SK. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 24^th, 2023, at 1 PM at the Sturgeon Lake Community Centre in Sturgeon Lake, SK. The Officiant will be Bishop Adam Halkett. The Honourary Pallbearers are Maureen Ahenakew, Norma Rabbitskin, Colleen Arcand, Victoria Elliot-Erickson, Lianne Ahenakew, Ellie Brazeau, Chief Christine Longjohn, Vivian Ramsden, “Little” Violet Naytowhow, Priscilla Joseph, Tanya Felix, Diane Lafond, & and all those who knew and loved Shirley. The Pallbearers are Jason Ahenakew, Joey Ahenakew, Vice-Chief Chris Jobb, Branden Dodwell, Lawrence “Boss” Greyeyes, & Cameron Ahenakew.
