Lois Williams
1933 ~ 2023
Lois Esther Williams, a remarkable woman known for her free spirit and unwavering support of loved ones, passed away on July 13, 2023. Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan she often shared memories of her childhood. Particularly the horse-drawn wagon rides with her father to the farm. Her father humorously referred to his children as the “dirty dozen” despite there being only six as it felt like a dozen with their mischief and energy.
It was in Prince Albert that Lois met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Williams. Together they embarked on a journey of 65 years that brought forth four children, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of which were a source of great joy to them. In the early 1960’s they settled on a farm just North of Prince Albert where they raised their family and cultivated a thriving homestead.
Lois made an impact in her community through her involvement in various endeavors. She was instrumental in establishing the SPCA in Prince Albert with her compassion for animals and dedication to their welfare. She was also involved with the Red River Roping and Riding Arena often volunteering for fundraising and community events to build and support the arena. Additionally, Lois spent many years as a top floral designer at Burkitt’s Flowers where her skill and creativity were showcased.
Above all Lois was a true individual, unafraid to express her thoughts and ideas. She embraced a free-thinking mindset always staying true to herself. Her love of gardening, poetry and music radiated through her life and she found comfort in sharing laughter with loved ones, often with a cold beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Her unique perspective and unwavering support made her a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She championed every crazy idea her family ever came up with, serving as their biggest supporter and most enthusiastic fan.
The loss of Lois will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of knowing her. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled and her memory will forever be treasured. In mourning her passing we also celebrate a life well lived, brimming with love, laughter and kindness. May her spirit endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her warmth and generosity.
