Saskatoon man is the third arrest for Sinclair murder

A third person has been arrested for the murder of Taya Sinclair, who was found deceased last year behind the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

Michael Smillie, 55, was arrested in Saskatoon on Wednesday and made his first court appearance Thursday morning on a charge of first-degree murder.

He is the third arrest in Sinclair’s death. Also charged are Stephanie Halkett-Stevenson (first-degree murder) and Chelsey Crow (manslaughter).

He will make his next appearance on July 20 and has been remanded into custody.

Sinclair’s remains were found behind the Field House on March 15, 2022.
