It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Verna Emma von Dohren on July 7, 2023.
Verna came into the world on a fine summer day in August 17, 1948 born to Arthur and Emma Kuhn in Prince Albert, SK as the 4th child of what would ultimately grow to become a family of 10 children.
Happiness, hard work and joy were always plentiful in the Kuhn household and the same sense of happiness would continue on in Verna’s life.
In 1968, Verna married the love of her life; Jens (John) and what would become a life long partnership and friendship of over 54 years until the time of her passing. They would go on to have two children and three grandchildren, which were her pride and joy. Rhonda (Bryan) Bruce and Leanne Niemi and Colin (Carlee Topham) and Cole.
Verna had a zest for life, and while not one to nix words, her care and compassion for other and willingness to lend a hand, listen and provide guidance and support did not go unnoticed and will be greatly missed.
Verna’s life was one filled with many adventures, beginning after her marriage to John, with a move off the farm in Clouston to the city of Prince Albert followed by the move to the northern community of Thompson, MB until final move to Vernon (Coldstream), BC in 1989 where she resided until the time of her passing.
John and Verna enjoyed many travels and especially numerous trips to the Oregon coast, venturing to Europe and visiting family and friends back home on the prairies.
While taken from us far to early, the memories of the good times spent and the love that she had for John, her children and grandchildren, family, friends and people will live in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in 2E at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the care that they provided during her stay in the hospital.
A celebration of her life will be held in Prince Albert, SK at a later date.
Donations in honour of Verna can be made to a charity of choice.
