Premier Scott Moe and the Reeve of the RM of Shellbrook both noted the passing of former councillor, and MLA Lloyd Muller.

“First and foremost, my thoughts are with Lloyd’s family and friends at this time of loss,” said the Premier in a statement emailed to paNOW. “Lloyd’s public service to the people of Saskatchewan as a former Member of the Legislative Assembly is appreciated and valued.”

Moe went on to say that Muller was an effective MLA for what was then called the Shellbrook-Torch River constituency, now the constituency represented by Moe himself.

“Lloyd had offered me valuable advice on representing those who we are elected to serve. For that, I am truly grateful,” he said.

Reeve Doug Oleksyn said he was a young person when Muller was on the rural council and has no personal memories of him but does know his son who also served on the council for a time.

And, as all municipal council members are, Muller would have had a big hand in developing all local infrastructure such as grid roads and main accesses.

“On behalf of the municipality, we would like to give condolences to the whole family,” said Oleksyn. “He lived a full life and that’s probably all that we can aspire to do at the best of times.”

Muller passed away peacefully on June 27 at the Shellbrook Hospital, 86 years after he was born in Prince Albert on June 21, 1937.

His parents were Ernest and Annie Muller and he married Doreen Rask in Canwood in 1958.

The couple farmed in Parkside then moved to Foxdale.

Muller was an active community member, and also part of the local 4-H club along with his roles as an elected official, which culminated in his service as deputy speaker for the House.

His funeral was held on June 30 at the Shellbrook Pentecostal Church.
