Vehicle vandals go on slashing spree

Jun 27, 2023 | 9:12 PM

There is sure to be a spike in insurance claims from Prince Albert.

Sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, someone or some people travelled the city’s East Flat area and slashed the tires on a number of vehicles left parked in the street and in the driveway.

When paNOW took a drive down Seventh St. E and north on 15th Ave. E, over a dozen vehicles were observed with damage. In cases where the doors were left unlocked, the suspects rummaged for valuables.

In some cases multiple tires were slashed on the same vehicle. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)

The vehicle owners who spoke to paNOW expressed obvious frustration over what happened and hope something gets done about it.

At this time there have been no arrests.

Prince Albert police have confirmed they are investigating and are encouraging people who live in the area to check their security cameras.

Police are also asking victims of vandalism to report it. Both pictures and video recordings are encouraged.

With respect to actual stats, the police service has in the past month received six reports of tire slashings.
