Canada’s Farm Show (CFS) in Regina, Sask. had its official kick-off yesterday at the Saskatchewan Legislature next to a John Deere X9 combine.

The show, which started this morning, brings together manufacturers, producers, exhibitors, and international buyers for one of the largest and most important agricultural shows in North America.

Agriculture Minister David Marit said the show will deliver on the reputation it has developed over the last 45 years.

“Our producers are leaders in innovation, technology, and sustainable practices. Canada’s Farm Show will continue to showcase these advancements, while also being committed to industry collaboration,” he said.

From today to Thursday, thousands of visitors from Canada and around the world are expected to visit the CFS which features over 300 exhibitors in the all indoor space.

President and CEO of Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) Tim Reid said this is the biggest stage in agriculture.

“We are expecting over 20,000 visitors to REAL District over the next three days, with something for everyone to explore and engage with in support of Canadian Agriculture,” Reid said. “We have registered international guests from 70 nations.”

Reid recognized the countries of Mongolia and Ethiopia who have sent delegations to the show for the past four years. Mexico, an important trading partner, also has a delegation in attendance.

Each day will have a particular focus. Opening and Collaboration Day will provide opportunities for producers, decisions makers and influencers to connect, collaborate and advance dryland farming practices.

Tomorrow is Innovation and Indigenous People’s Day which features the Global Agtech Summit. Former Chief of Cowessess First Nation Cadmus Delorme will discuss the future of Indigenous agriculture including the opportunities and challenges facing Indigenous peoples in the industry.
