Sci-fi musical about climate change coming to northern communities
Sum Theatre will be presenting a new musical play called Zero Gravity later this month in Rosetown, Prince Albert, Stanley Mission, and La Ronge.
“Theatre in the Park is a free, professional, family-friendly, theatre event that tours to local parks through Saskatchewan,” said co-director Mackenzie Dawson.
“What we do is every year we make an original play. It’s a musical play, so it feels like part rock concert, part live theatre. It’s a play with giant puppets and it really creates this out of this world feeling, which is fitting for this year because our show is a sci-fi show about climate change.”
The main focus of Zero Gravity is about climate change and breakdown. Dawson explained the play starts with Earth experiencing a climate breakdown and a few Earthlings are sent off the planet by their dad who built a rocket ship in their garage. The children land on another planet and learn what it means to live in another land in a good and positive way for everybody.
