Magic, comedy, dance and country highlight upcoming season at E.A. Rawlinson Centre

Jun 8, 2023 | 12:00 PM

Prince Albert’s E.A. Rawlinson Centre has been open for 20 years and to celebrate the milestone, a massive line up has been announced for the upcoming season.

In addition to more familiar names such as Doc Walker, Michelle Wright, Jess Moskaluke, the Sheepdogs, and the Barra MacNeils, there’s also illusionist Chris Funk and a sketch comedy revue called Middle Raged starring Geri Hall (22 Minutes, Second City), and Gary Pearson (MadTV, Corner Gas).

Roxanne Dicke has been with the Rawlinson Centre for five years and for the past 10 months has been organizing the upcoming season. She noted another show she’s personally looking forward to.

“I am excited we are bringing in Anne of Green Gables Ballet that uses local kids as well in their production with professional ballet dancers,” she said.

The Great Canadian Road Trip, which features Doc Walker, Jason McCoy and Michelle Wright, makes a stop in Prince Albert on Feb. 28.

Also in the works for August is the Broadway Theatre Company’s take on the Rocky Horror Picture Show, while the Broadway North Youth Company will perform the Little Mermaid in December.

“I think the growth of the Broadway North Youth Company and the Broadway North Theatre company are a major part of what we are celebrating,” Dicke said.

She acknowledged the difficulty of the past three years and how people have formed new habits, opting to stay home rather than go out. That being said she hopes to see lots of people buy tickets and come out this season.

“Community only gets stronger when we gather and there’s really good reasons to gather in this season,” Dicke said.

Tickets for the upcoming season are now on sale and can be purchased through the E.A. Rawlinson Centre’s website.
