Irene Harriett Remy
1942 – 2023
It is with much heart break and sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Harriett Remy on May 27, 2023 at the age of 80 years.
Those who knew mom knew that she was a strong lady and she proved that again and again as she fought lung cancer for the last 2 years. Mom was our guiding light, the person we looked up to and admired for many wonderful traits. The love she had for us was so strong and powerful, it shaped who we are today and for that we are grateful. We were blessed to have been able to call her Mom!!! We will miss her very much, as will her fur baby Babe, her li’l dog who has been at her side since our father passed 13 years ago.
Mom and Dad met in Alberta and fell in love there. They married on May 12th of 1960 in Alberta and started a family shortly after that. They moved (returned) to Spruce Home as that is where Dad had been raised. They took up the farming lifestyle on a property of their own as grain farmers and through the years had some livestock including long horn cattle and buffalo. They sold the farm approximately 20 years ago and moved in to a house in Prince Albert where they both resided until each slipped away to the heavenly bodies.
Mom is predeceased by:
George Remy – her husband and the love of her life
Gordon Remy – her youngest son who passed away much to soon, 2 years ago
Clara and Hjalmer Berg – her mother and father
Edna Hunt / Ralph Hunt /Albert Hunt / Ronald Hunt – her siblings
Mom is survived by:
Valerie Remy – loving daughter / Tristan and his son Jasper
Wayne Remy – Loving son / His spouse Lorna McKay / his daughter Samantha and her husband Patrik
Ernie Remy – Loving son / His partner Janelle Leik / his son Kayland and his daughter Meghan
Doris Leach – loving sister of Calgary / her children – Bill / Rob / Tanner / Laurie and all their children
Babe – loving dog -her fur baby of 13 plus years
We want to thank all the wonderful staff of the Victoria Hospital who made Mom’s time there much easier as well as ours. All the nurses, doctors and support staff were wonderful, but we want to express a deep heart felt thank you to Dr. Leah Karnes who was Mom’s doctor for the last two years. Dr Karnes is a straight up person who offered her guidance in a professional and very caring way. There are not enough words to express our feelings and deep gratitude for all she did for Mom!!
Many people have passed through Mom’s life over the years that were wonderful, from her fantastic neighbors, to the friends from the farming era who remained as friends all this time. Though some people are not a constant in our lives there are always memories of each that touched her and our hearts.
Good bye our sweet, strong mother and grandmother…. Life will not be the same, but we will carry on with your spirit in our hearts and souls. We shall see you, Dad and Gord when it is our time to be there with you.
“Mothers never really die, they just keep the house up in the sky. They polish the sun by day and light the stars that shine at night, keep the moonbeams silvery bright and in the heavenly home above they wait to welcome those they love.”
There will be no funeral service only a private interment as per Mom’s request. She had asked that she be laid to rest beside Dad on her birthday which shall be June 29th so that they are together here on earth and in heaven.
A huge Thank You to the staff at Gray’s Funeral Chapel for making one of the hardest events of our lives that much easier!!
