Marcel Lavoy
1941 – 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marcel “Bucky/Frenchie” Lavoy on May 20, 2023. He was born May 2, 1941.
Marcel is survived by his loving wife, Pat; sons Duane, Rick, and Doug; stepdaughters Shellie and Cheryl; his sister Deanna Palidwar; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren with the 13th due at the end of July; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; sister-in-law, Wendy; and brother-in-law, Garth.
He was predeceased by his parents Rene and Lorette, his parents-in-law Louis and Laura Kirkness, a baby daughter at birth, and his stepson Jon.
Marcel was a jack-of-all-trades: starting at the Coop as a young lad delivering groceries on his bike and also delivering newspapers, later on with the Liquor Board relieving employees at various Liquor Stores, he then worked at Carlings Brewery in Regina until they closed in 1980. Then he turned to be an operator at the Fenton Ferry, and from there to what he loved and that was being a carpenter. Many furniture, houses, etc were built. His other love was fishing. He also worked at Key Lake for 10 years. Whenever he got back home from work, he would head straight to the garden (even before he would say “Hi, I’m home” to his wife!). That was his other passion in life.
Marcel’s wishes are for a very casual “Celebration of Life” with NO suits/ties, and if you have a white T-shirt wear it in respect for Bucky as it was his favourite shirt! Family and friends are invited to attend on June 10, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the East End Rink, 300 12th Avenue East, Prince Albert, SK.
