Province rescinds fire ban

May 24, 2023 | 11:47 AM

Due to cooler weather and recent rainfall, the province has opted to lift its fire ban.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency issued the ban on May 16. It applied to all Crown lands, provincial parks and the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District north of Highway 16.

Certain areas of the province that did not receive rainfall continue to have a high fire risk, such as the area north of Churchill. Provincial parks in the area may continue with local fire bans.

Municipalities that issued fire bans of their own are expected to make amendments or rescind them to coincide with fire risk ratings in their area.
