Duane was born on Oct. 18, 1953 in Prince Albert to Vernon and Ida Studer (nee Parent). During the first five years of his life the family lived in PA however they spent a lot of time traveling back and forth to Sulphide Lake. In 1958 the Studer family settled in LaRonge and this would become Duane’s forever home.
Time spent up north at such a young age would go on to shape Duane into the man he became; a person that had an innate appreciation of the earth it’s mysteries and its beauty.

As with his other interests he was always learning, keeping up with developments in what was a growing field. Duane was passionate about his work, and he revelled in the development of any new technology, and the excitement it brought to the industry.
