A disability centre in Rosthern has finished renovations and an expansion after getting funding from the province.

The Valley Action Abilities centre was able to upgrade and repurpose its recycling building to create a gymnasium, kitchen, greenhouse, and two activity rooms. It also got upgrades to its washrooms and its heating and cooling systems.

The total costs of the upgrades were $550,000, provided by the Ministry of Social Services.

“By adapting their space to meet the needs of their participants, Valley Action Abilities have truly placed people at the heart of their programming,” said Premier Scott Moe. “This is a very exciting day full of new opportunities, and we are proud to support the project.”

Valley Action Abilities is a community-based organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for adults living with physical and intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1972, Valley Action Abilities strives to promote accomplishment, growth, development and belonging through the direction of a local volunteer board that includes professionals, family members and community members.
