Hoback presents Platinum Jubilee medals to recipients during ceremony in P.A.
More than 30 residents of Prince Albert and area were presented with a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre on Friday night.
The medallions were handed out by local Member of Parliament Randy Hoback who said that with the Queen’s passing in September, some of the award recipients mentioned these medals hold a bit more significance than with awards handed out in previous years.
“A lot of (the recipients) are older and they acknowledged that,” Hoback explained. “They resonate with the Queen and the Queen resonates with them. They understand the work that she did, and the sacrifices she made so to have a Queen Platinum Jubilee medal, it means a lot. Maybe a little bit extra special because it’s the Queen’s last one.”
Of those who were awarded medals, two of the recipients were former Prince Albert Citizen of the Year Marie Mathers and Marjorie Bodnarchuk where Marjorie praised all the other recipients for their work in the city.
