July 18, 1945 – April 14, 2023

Gerald Kusch, late of Saskatoon, formerly of Prince Albert, passed away at the age of 77 in the early hours of April 14^th, 2023, with his brothers by his side. Gerald was predeceased by his parents Carl and Therese (née Cochet) Kusch, his nephew Robert (Bobby) Kusch, and his special friend Yvonne Pickup. He is survived by his 3 brothers Donald (Marion), Leonard (Connie), and Lynn (Agnes), 10 nieces and nephews, and friend Shirley Mair.

Gerald spent his early years on the farm near Domremy which he would reminisce about fondly. He could often be found tinkering with various vehicles and farming equipment. Gerald later moved to Prince Albert where he worked at the local tree nursery and the Kinsmen Workshop. He also delivered the Rural Routes and the Shopper newspapers. It was always very important for him to live an independent life which he was able to do for his entire life.

Gerald loved listening to old time music and especially enjoyed social dances like the polka. This love for music probably came from listening to his father’s fiddle playing from an early age. He also enjoyed playing bingo and card games, building puzzles, and socializing. He had a love for animals and had many pet cats and one bird over the years. He was especially fond of his cat Crystal, who was with him for many years. Animals were often drawn to him amongst a crowd of people because of his quiet and gentle demeanor.

The family would like to thank the medical personnel at Medavie Ambulance, the Saskatoon City Hospital emergency department, and the Royal University Hospital Coronary Care and 6^th floor Cardiac Care units for their kindness and compassion.

A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, June 17^th, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Cherished Memories Funeral Home (591 Centennial Drive North in Martensville) where we hope to share laughter, fellowship, and our favourite memories of Gerald. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Prince Albert SPCA or the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation.
