The Prince Albert Historical Museum was hopping on Saturday when they held their first easter egg hunt since 2019.
The museum’s Program and Outreach Coordinator Jeri McKelvie said that it’s nice to see people come out and enjoy the fun after a long hiatus.
“It’s really exciting,” she said. “It’s really wonderful to have people come into the museum and be able to experience it, some for the very first time. For others, it’s been a few years but they’re back now.”
The easter egg hunt ran throughout the museum from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and wasn’t your typical hunt either. The eggs were hidden within the displays and kids were given a sheet with hints on where to find the eggs, along with a fill-in-the-blank portion where kids would write in some information about the display where the eggs were hidden.
McKelvie added that she didn’t make up the hunt nor did she or anyone else with the museum help out with it. Rather, it was the Prince Albert Historical Jr. Society that made both the scavenger hunt and crafted the eggs.
“We had eleven kids come out last Saturday and the kids made the eggs,” she explained. “Then they went around and found their favourite artifact and wrote a clue to go with it. Then we put it together into a scavenger hunt.”
In total, 36 people came by the museum for the hunt and kids had the opportunity to do some easter related colouring activities afterward.
McKelvie also mentioned that the museum will be at the Prince Albert Family Expo next month where the museum’s Jr. Society will also be volunteering.
