Lifelong friends come together to create big music festival for Sask. village

Two Albertville friends have come together to bring a unique festival to the community later this spring.

Lizanne Yeomans and Bernie Lavoie have known each other their entire lives, having been raised in Albertville, roughly 30 minutes northeast of Prince Albert.

The two recently started brainstorming fundraising ideas for the community, which led to the thought of a talent show and eventually a music festival.

“It has blossomed into something beyond our wildest dreams,” said Yeomans. “It’s just so exciting and the entertainers are just as excited. We’re having so much fun with this.”

What makes this truly remarkable is that planning for this festival only started six weeks ago, with Lavoie and Yeomans as the only event planners.

“Decisions are made very easily because we work very well together and respect each other’s opinions and gut instincts,” said Lavoie.

In less than two months, the pair have already lined up sponsors, created a logo, and confirmed 25 performers for the event.

They acknowledge this could not have been done without their community’s help.

“We have such a great community that are on board to help us. Our list of volunteers is endless because they want to see this be a big success,” said Lavoie.

“We have so much family and friend support around us that it’s making this event, which should be quite stressful, actually quite enjoyable,” added Yeomans.

So far, a number of big sponsors including North Country Medi-Spa, Trudel Auto Body, Lake Country Co-op and the Broda Group have jumped on board but more are welcome.

Rock The Ville is scheduled to run June 17th in Albertville with tickets available on the official website.
