Two women charged after Prince Albert’s largest cocaine bust, granted bail

Two women, charged in connection to what’s been called the largest drug bust in the history of the Prince Albert Police Service, have been released on bail with consent from the Federal Crown Prosecutor.

Santana Foulds and Spencer Evans appeared by phone when their matters were addressed Thursday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

While there was no specific reason given for the consent release, it’s typically indicative of someone with no criminal record and considered a low risk to re-offend.

Among the conditions they’ll have to abide by are a 24-hour curfew at an approved residence; no contact with the co-accused; and no guns or weapons. Foulds’s release was also contingent on an up front payment of $2,000.

On March 16, police conducted a search of a home in a trailer court north of Prince Albert.

Over 30 kilograms of suspected cocaine was seized, along with $55,000 in cash.

Police also found items associated with drug trafficking, gun parts, and ammunition.

At a press conference earlier this week, Police Chief Jon Bergen suggested the impact of the bust will be felt beyond the local community, adding the drugs would likely have supplied remote areas.

The estimated value of the cocaine is between $1.5 million to $4 million, depending on where it would be sold and the local prices.

In relation to the incident, both Foulds and Evans are charged with trafficking, possessing the proceeds of crime over $5,000, and having banned ammunition.

Among the co-accused are 30-year-old Gordon Greer-Vandale, who last appeared in court on Monday and was denied bail.

Jim Lakatos, 34, of North Battleford, is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Friday, and police are still looking for a fifth suspect, 31-year-old Dean Marchand of Saskatoon.
