Former Raiders bench boss named General Manager for 2024 World Juniors
A familiar face to Prince Albert was included in Hockey Canada’s recent announcement, in which they revealed their management team for the upcoming 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships.
Peter Anholt was named general manager of the team and will take the reigns to try and guide Team Canada to their third consecutive World Championship. Anholt currently serves as the General Manager of the Lethbridge Hurricanes as he has been for the last nine years, helping lead the club to seven consecutive post-season appearances, including back-to-back conference finals in 2017 and 2018.
Anholt played for the Prince Albert Raiders from 1979-81 before switching to a coaching roll. He began his time as a coach with the Raiders back in 1986 and was an assistant coach from then until 1988 before taking over the head coaching position for the 1989-90 season. He then left PA to coach elsewhere, which includes time in Seattle, Red Deer, and Kelowna.
After a second stint with the Rebels, Anholt returned to the Raiders as the head coach midway through the 2002-03 season and stayed with the team until the 2006-07 season. During his time as the bench boss in PA, he accumulated a record of 174-186-14-29 (W-L-T-OTL).
