Five Swimmers Perform Well in Manitoba

Five swimmers from Prince Albert Sharks Swim Club dove off the staring blocks into the Manitoba-
Saskatchewan provincial swimming championship in Saskatoon star;ng March 2.

Sharks put up fantasic times bringing home 15 medals, countless personal bests, a club record and
qualificaton for national para-swimming. Also won the Sask Female Para swimmer award for the female
para swimmer scoring the most points Here are highlights from the swimming championship:

Ali. D: 7 medals including 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Achieved 4 qualifying national para-swimming
times in 100 m and 400 m Freestyle, 100 Back and 200 IM. Also won the Sask Female Para swimmer
award for the female para swimmer scoring the most points.

Myla. M: 6 medals including 3 silver and 3 bronze. Myla broke the Sharks record in 50-m butterfly and
was selected to represent She Team Saskatchewan in the relay race.

Clara. G: 2 bronze medals just missing the club record in the 50m back.

Brooklyn D.: Qualified to the Man-Sask for the first and advanced to the finals in the 200-m Breast and came 5th, the 200 m IM and came 10th and came 10th in the 100 Breast.

Jakson M.: Qualified to the Man-Sask for the first time and competed isn five events.

“The meet was a huge success for all our swimmers,” said head coach Dr. Hazem Hussein, “absolutely
shredding their best personal times and achieving 15 medals for the first time in over two decades.

Next up for the Sharks is the Saskatchewan junior championship in Moose Jaw.

Ali D. will represent the Sharks at the Western Canadian championships in para-swimming looking for her
first Canadian ;me trial standard in the 100 m breaststroke.

The Prince Albert Sharks offer a variety of programs to meet kids’ potentials and ambitions not only on
the competitive level but also on the pre-competitive level.
