Gary Garneau
1946 ~ 2023
With broken hearts we are sad to announce that our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Gary Wilfred Garneau passed away at the age of 76 years old. With his family at his side at the Victoria Hospital March, 5, 2023, after battling multiple health issues.
Gary was born on April, 12, 1946, in Prince Albert, SK, to Joseph and Gladys Garneau. Gary grew up in the Briarlea, SK area, and then during his younger years lived in Calgary and Moose Jaw for awhile before settling back into Prince Albert. Gary met the love of his life Linda Arcand, and they married in May of 1968, and proceeded to have their four children, Laurie, Selena, Wade, and Brett. Gary worked many jobs, a plumber for years, then maintenance at the Imperial 400 and Coronet hotels. After that he began at Carlton High School Maintenance Dept and worked there until his retirement.
Gary’s loves in his life were many, most important were his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a love of animals (his dog chi-chi) his favorite. Gary had many interests in his life, camping and fishing, he was a huge Blue Jays fan never missing a game on T.V. He was even fortunate enough to make a trip down to Seattle, Washington with his wife Linda, daughter Selena and son-in-law Dave to see two games! He also enjoyed the NHL, especially when the Calgary Flames were playing. Gary was also fond of old western movies and was a country music fan, he played the guitar in his younger years. Gary was very skilled in carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He always had some project on the go or spending time tinkering in his garage among his tools of which he had plenty. He was always willing to lend out his skills to family and friends when needed. Gary had a great sense of humor up until the end, and always loved to tease his wife, children and grandchildren (especially). Always quick and witty when it came to his jokes, his grandchildren recall many of favorites he always retold. He will be greatly missed by us all.
Gary is survived by his family, his wife, Linda (nee Arcand); his daughters, Laurie Rabut (Alain) and Selena Stephenson (Dave); his sons, Wade Garneau (Gayle) and Brett Garneau (Renata); his grandsons, Jared Rabut (Haley George), Tristan Rabut, Seth Rabut, Liam Garneau, Blake Garneau; his granddaughters, Caden Stephenson, Taryn Stephenson, Beth Garneau; his sisters, Thelma Lindskog, Shirley Arnold, Fay (Ed Kachuck), Doreen (Daryl Deshryver); his brothers and sister-in-law, Raymond & Gloria Arcand, Leslie Arcand, Len & Rose Arcand, Rudolph Fiddler; many nieces, nephew, cousins and family.
Gary was predeceased by his father, Joseph Garneau; his mother, Gladys (Stroud); his step father, Paul Poilievre; his brothers, Fred Garneau, Bob Garneau, Reg Garneau; his in-laws, Adrian and Cecilia (nee Kometcher) Arcand; his brothers-in-law, Bill Arnold, Ron Lindskog; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Fiddler (nee Arcand), and Pat Arcand; nephew, Dennis Kachuck.
