Colleen Villeneuve
1955 ~ 2023

Mom lost her battle with cancer on February 24, 2023.

Colleen Villeneuve (née Parenteau) was born March 17, 1955, to Ed and Irene Parenteau in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. As a young teen, mom, loved rock and roll and her adventurous spirit took her all over North America, and finally settled back into Edmonton, Alberta, with family.

She married her husband Jay on January 12, 1980, and together they raised 3 children, Robert, Renée and Brian, and took in many nephews, nieces, and their children’s friends when needed. Their home was always open with a pot of coffee on and a friendly conversation. Mom lost dad on September 24, 2015, and began her work career with PA Metis women where she gained an exceptional social life and made many good friends.

She traveled lots in her later years, even finally facing her fear of flying and going to Las Vegas with her friends and then again, her sisters.

The real joy in her life were her grandchildren, Devin, Jack, Leif and Wynn; who she doted on and loved with all her heart. She was a very proud Grandma.

She will be greatly missed by all who’s lives she touched. Colleen is survived by her mother, Irene Parenteau; children, Robert, Renée and Brian; siblings, Alden (Angie) Parenteau, Judy (Frank)Mackie, Joylene Crawford, Gail Stevens, Dale (Laura) Parenteau; her grandchildren, Devin Kiryk, Jack Muldoon, Leif Burwood and Wynn Burwood.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jay Villeneuve March 14, 1953 – September 24, 2015; and her father, Ed Parenteau.

We would like to thank PA Metis Women and Local 7 for giving mom a much-needed social life and career, and on-going community support. Palliative Home Care for making sure mom was looked after and comfortable in her last years. And thank you to all our family and friends for being there during this difficult time.
