Feb 28, 2023 | 3:53 PM

Two men from Saskatoon and a woman from Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation are facing a number of charges in connection to a serious incident in Prince Albert.

Nigal Hunter-Best, Derrick Laliberte and Shantel Mike are jointly accused of conspiring to commit murder, forcible confinement, aggravated assault, robbery, and administering a noxious substance (pills and bleach) with intent to cause bodily harm.

They also face a number of weapons related charges. A hand gun was used during the alleged robbery in which cash, jewelery, and a cellphone were taken.

According to court records obtained by paNOW, the incident happened between Feb. 23 and Feb. 25. No other details have been made public at this time.

All three accused made their first court appearances Monday morning. Both Laliberte and Mike were adjourned to Tuesday, only to be remanded again to next week.

Best, who also has Saskatoon matters, and has a further charge of breach of a release order, is back in court on March 3.

Due to the conspiracy charge, a bail application would have to be made through Court of King’s Bench.

In 2017, Laliberte was charged with attempted murder, after an incident at the former “CB Building” in downtown Prince Albert. However the charge was later stayed by the Crown when the witness refused to testify.

Mike also has a prior conviction related to a kidnapping in 2014 at Montreal Lake Cree Nation. For her role in the incident that involved a medical care worker, Mike served 171 days in jail.
