Sr. Murielle Savard
1929 ~ 2023

Sister Murielle Savard (St. Florent) of The Sisters of the Presentation, passed away on February 12, 2023, at the age of 93 years, at Mont Saint Joseph Home, in Prince Albert, SK. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert on Friday, February 17, 2023, by the Most Reverend Albert Thevenot, M. Sr. Murielle was born the tenth of a family of fourteen, in the small prairie town of Debden, SK. She received her education in the Debden School. In 1947 she left for the Noviciate in St. Hyacinthe, Québec, and became a Sister of the Presentation of Mary. As a young sister she already had missionary aspirations. Her teaching career of 20 years brought her to several schools in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In 1970 she started her missionary work in Mozambique, and the Gambia. In 2003 she returned to Canada, and worked in Prince Albert as an immigrant helper, and RCIA. She was an active member of Catholic Women League. In 2018 as her health declined, she moved to our Infirmary at 3101 3rd Ave. Prince Albert. In 2022, needing more health-care Sr. Murielle moved to Mont St. Joseph Home where she received very good and compassionate care.

Sr. Murielle will be remembered for her long demanding years of total dedication to her African missions. She was known for her boundless energy and sometimes very tenacious will-power. Her positive outlook on life has consistently been an asset in her career and in her relationships. She had a sound sense of values, a deep prayer-life, a genuine openness to God and to others. She was a gifted woman eager to use her talents for the good of the poorest. She was a true daughter of St. Marie Rivier.

All her work transpired from her deep love for God. Her prayerfulness and dynamism have truly touched many lives. We rejoice with her that her great desire to see God and dwell in His Presence has been fulfilled.
