Berg Ethel Gladys
Ethel passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023, at the age of 100 years. Ethel was born October 21, 1922, to James and Nellie Taylor. The majority of her life would be spent in and around the Canwood area. She was the youngest of four sisters who grew up on the Taylor farm.
In 1942, she married Trygve Berg. Together they started their own farm and raised four children.
In 1983, they built a new home in Canwood and retired from the farm. After Trygve passed in 1985 Ethel continued to stay in their home until 2002. She moved to Silver Corners senior housing where she remained until February 2020. She then located to Mihilewicz Assisted Living Home in Shellbrook where she stayed for three years to the day of her passing. Here she was still able to enjoy her love of reading, crossword puzzles, music, TV, visits and phone calls, and her daily walks.
Ethel was an excellent seamstress and spent many hours doing alterations, creating many garments, and some dresses and gowns for special occasions. Spending time at her sewing machine brought her great joy. Her life was kept busy and full working on the farm milking cows, cooking, baking excellent pies and buns, and tending her garden and many flowers.
She was active in her church and volunteered with different organizations and the Nursing Home in Canwood. She also took the time and very much enjoyed traveling with family and friends to various places in the United States of America, Mexico, and one of her favorites Hawaii.
Many get-togethers with family and friends were done around a few games of cards, where her sense of humor and quick wit made for a good visit, fun times, and many good conversations. Ethel’s main joy was always her family and in her quiet unassuming way she always made herself available with any help, support, or good advice she could offer.
Many memories with mom, grandma, and great-grandma will be remembered and cherished.
