Team Sask. unveils final roster for Winter Games, local talent well-represented

Athletes from across Saskatchewan are making the trip to the nation’s smallest province to compete in the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

A team of 217 athletes and 74 coaches and staff will embark on the more than 3,160 km trip to Prince Edward Island for the games with more than 60 Saskatchewan communities represented, including some that are close to home.

Among the over 300 participants heading to the Maritimes, four athletes and two coaches hail from Prince Albert while an additional eight athletes and four coaches and staff are from nearby communities.

In order of sport, below is a list of athletes and coaches who hail from P.A:

• Krystle Shewchuk, Cross Country Skiing

Stefan Lotz, Figure Skating

Ryan McDonald, Hockey (coach)

Corban Taylor, Judo

Sadie McFarlane, Karate

Jacklyn Sten, Canwood (Alpine Skiing)

Julia Shindle, Shellbrook (Figure Skating)

Marcail Philp, Shellbrook (Cross Country Skiing)

Tasje Sharron, Shellbrook (Figure Skating, coach)

Bohden Booth, Spiritwood (Curling)

Jayden Dauvin, Spiritwood (Curling)

Jaxon Herchak, Waldheim (Hockey)

Opening day for the games is on Feb. 18 and will go until Mar. 5.
