PAPS officers receive award for removing 57 impaired drivers over 12 months
Three officers with the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) were recently recognized for the work they’ve done to make the community’s roads safer.
Const. Rob Lindsay, Const. Dwight LeBlue, and Const. Curtis Stasiw were each given a Van de Vorst Family Award for Excellence in Prevention from MADD Canada and Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) as they were able to remove a combined 57 impaired drivers off the roads from April 2021 to April 2022.
“They could be saving a life because that driver hasn’t gone on to cause further harm to someone else,” Karen Anthony-Burns with MADD Prince Albert said.
The award, named in memory of Jordan and Chanda Van de Vorst and their two children, Kamryn and Miguire, who were killed by an impaired driver outside of Saskatoon in 2016, is handed out annually to those who remove at least eight impaired drivers.
