WHAT'S THE BUZZ?

The Swarm are coming to a Lacrosse floor near you

A swarm is coming to a town west of Prince Albert, and they can’t hold in their excitement.

The Shellbrook Swarm is now the official name of the local box lacrosse teams that will return to the floor this spring in the 2023 season.

“With the recent floor and board upgrades to the recreation facility in Shellbrook, the ability to play lacrosse in Shellbrook was there,” said club president Kent Shindel.

The town had three teams play last year with help from the Prince Albert Lacrosse Association.

Shindel said they’ve been spending the past few months getting what they need to enter the season.

“Through fundraising, we were able to purchase jerseys, nets, goalie equipment, and other essential items for the 2023 season.”

The Swarm plan to have teams in the U13, U11, U9, and U7 divisions with the season starting in early April and wrapping up by the middle of June.

Shindel said when it comes to what’s known as the fastest game on two feet, there really isn’t a better sport to take part in than Lacrosse.

“The game is a great way to build endurance, coordination, and strength,” he said. “Our new club is inclusive to any kids looking to join a team, build leadership skills, find new friends and have fun.”
