The woman charged after a serious incident in Prince Albert’s west flat area has been released on bail.

According to court records, Angela Ahenakew is facing a number of gun related charges as well as fraud involving a credit card, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Monday’s large-scale police response involved a home on fourth Ave and 18th St. W.

According to a statement earlier this week from Prince Albert Police, the incident started around 9 a.m. when officers received a report of a stolen vehicle at a home on MacArthur Drive. Along with the stolen vehicle, thefts also involved a wallet, credit cards, a firearm and ammunition.

The investigation led officers to the home on 18 Street West, where 11 people were evacuated from the home, but a woman barricaded herself inside with a gun.

Officers then spent several hours attempting to negotiate a peaceful surrender with the woman, to no avail.

Eventually through what they called “multiple tactical strategies”, the woman surrendered and was taken into custody.

Officers later recovered a rifle and ammunition from inside the home. No one was injured in the incident

Ahenakew’s matters have been adjourned to the afternoon of Jan. 23. Until that time, she’s on a number of court ordered conditions that include a curfew, living at an approved residence, abstaining from drugs or alcohol, and reporting to a probation officer.
