Golden Shovel Awards back for 2023

Dec 24, 2022 | 9:00 AM

When it snows, it means going outside and bracing the cold to keep your sidewalks and driveways clear and, in some cases, it creates a problem for those who have trouble getting around during the winter.

But there are some Good Samaritans who make the extra effort in ensuring those residents have a safe and clean sidewalk.

If you know of someone that clears your sidewalk, or know of someone who does, consider nominating them for the City’s Golden Shovel Awards. All you need to do is write a letter to the city saying why you are nominating them.

Their efforts to go the extra mile in making sure our neighbours are safe reflects greatly on the kindness of citizens in our city. Not only do they make the sidewalks safer for their neighbours, but they make it safer for mail carriers, meter readers, and all residents in Prince Albert.

In addition to being nominated, the person will have their name entered into a draw for one of the following prizes:

• A $100 gift certificate to the Alfred Jenkins Field House;

• A $100 gift certificate to the E.A. Rawlinson Centre;

• Vouchers for six Raider Hockey Games;

• Two adult green fees at the Cooke Municipal Golf Course

Although they may not win these prizes, no one walks away empty-handed. When you nominate for a Golden Shovel Award, the individual receives a golden shovel keychain as a token of appreciation and a letter from the Mayor of Prince Albert thanking them on behalf of all residents.
