One dead in apartment fire in Rosthern

One person is dead after an apartment fire in the Town of Rosthern.

RCMP, local EMS, and fire departments from Hague and Rosthern were called to the building on 4^th Ave around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Police quickly set up a secure perimeter around the building to maintain public safety while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Rosthern RCMP said there has been one confirmed death but didn’t release any more information about the individual. All other residents in the building were evacuated with some needing medical assistance.

Residents in the community are asked to avoid the area as emergency responders work to keep the area safe and secure.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
