Saskatchewan faces 2,000 staff shortages in health care over next five years: auditor

Saskatchewan’s auditor says the province is facing a shortage of health-care workers over the next five years.
Tara Clemett says in a report that the government’s current plan to recruit workers isn’t adequate for the 2,000 spots that need to be filled by 2027.
Clemett says some of the jobs that are needed the most include front-line workers, registered nurses and psychologists.
The report says the shortage could lead to further hospital closures and emergency rooms shutting down, especially in the province’s north and rural areas.
