Birch Hills Golf Course Starting Fundraising Blitz for New Clubhouse

May 16, 2013 | 9:24 AM

The Birch Hills Golf Course is a 9 hole course with natural greens.

We also offer cart rentals, club rentals, golf merchandise, small meals and catering can also be arranged to have at events at the clubhouse (tournaments, weddings, family reunions, etc.)

With the increased interest in golfing as both a sport and healthy, active lifestyle inclusion, the board of the Birch Hills Golf Course has made the decision to build a new Clubhouse.

Our current clubhouse was the old Winton Country School (north of Birch Hills), so this gives you an idea of how old the building is. It has been remodeled, added onto and is now at the point where it is more economical to replace it than to do more additions and repairs to it.

This decision came as part of a 5 year plan that we put into place last year and are hoping to have it completed by summer of 2016. The plan is for an 1800- 2000 sq. ft. log building , the decision for year round use has yet to be determined (it will probably be dependent on costs associated with that and funds available).

This is a huge project for us and the support of our community as well as the surrounding areas like Prince Albert, Melfort, Kinistino, St. Louis (who host a large tournament every year on labor day Sunday) and many others is very much appreciated.

We will be doing some major fundraising through tournaments and other events as well as requests for funding from different sources and are just getting started with that.

For tax purposes, if anyone is interested in donating they can make cheques payable to The Town of Birch Hills and in the memo field state “Golf Course Clubhouse Fund” any amount over $25.00 may be issued receipts upon request.

To get the ball rolling, we are accepting our first major donation from Cargill, in the amount of $2500.00 on Tuesday, May 21st at 5pm at the Golf Course.
