Visits may be impacted by COVID outbreak at Sask Pen.

In addition to announcing 10 inmates at the penitentiary in Prince Albert, the Correctional Service of Canada said that planned visits can be impacted.

The 10 inmates that were announced as positive yesterday are from the maximum security unit.

Along with monitoring the health of the inmates and staff, COVID testing is being offered and numbers may grow as more test results are available.

The last outbreak amongst the 835-prisoner population was in September.

Health services are available for inmates including doctors and nurses and information is available on the importance of vaccination rate (about 80 per cent in the penitentiary), mask wearing, sanitation, and physical distancing.
