Don’t mix drinking and driving urges MADD Prince Albert

The Prince Albert chapter of MADD Canada is kicking off its annual Christmas safety campaign by putting out boxes of red ribbons to help remind people of the importance of sober driving.

Karen Anthony-Burns is with the local chapter and said the boxes will be found at several local businesses

“This year we are going to be putting the boxes in all the Lake Country Co-op locations as well as any other businesses that are willing to join in,” she said.

The ribbons are available by donation and serve an important role in the annual campaign.

“It’s still really important for us to spread the message to drive safe and drive sober and to tie your red ribbon,” said Anthony-Burns.

The ribbons can be tied wherever the donor wants, such as on a key chain or backpack.

Another fundraiser that can be a good idea for a Christmas gift is to buy a bag of coffee with the MADD label.

The fundraiser is a partnership with Dr. Javas with $7 from every $20 bag sold going to the local MADD initiative.

This helps them pay for the activities they do throughout the year, such as the overturned vehicle reminder at the edge of town.
