Preliminary inquiry dates set for Custer murder case

Preliminary hearing dates have now been finalized for a murder case that dates back over two years.

A total of three men were arrested in connection to the death of Wesley Custer in August 2020.

Evan Ledoux’s matters were spoken to Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court and a new court date was set for April 24, 2023.

Tyson Lachance and Curtis Ledoux previously had their respective dates set for April 17, 2022 and Jan. 31, 2023.

The purpose of the one-day hearing is to determine if the Crown’s evidence is strong enough for the trial stage.

Wesley Custer was 20 years old when he was dropped off at the Shellbrook Hospital on Aug. 21, 2020, with serious injuries. He died shortly after.

Tyson Lachance was charged with second-degree murder, while Evan Ledoux was charged with manslaughter and Curtis Ledoux was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Police have not revealed what the motive may have been for Custer’s death, but family members previously told paNOW it was gang-related.
